Search continues for man missing and presumed drowned in Columbia Valley lake

RCMP in the Columbia Valley say the search continues for a man who went missing in Windermere Lake and is presumed drowned.

A 26-year-old man was swimming with friends in Windermere Lake in Invermere at around 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, according to an RCMP media release.

He was seen going into distress, then he disappeared under water and didn't resurface.

RCMP members, local firefighters and search and rescue volunteers continue to search for the unidentified man. Police say at this time he has not been found.

Police aren't releasing any more information out of respect for the man’s family.
