The search resumed today for a 31-year-old Kelowna woman who went missing near Mission Greenway park and the raging creek that runs through it.

Chelsea Cardno was last seen leaving her home on Dougall Road South in Kelowna at around 8 a.m. yesterday, June 15, according to an RCMP media release.

She was heading to the park to walk her German shepherd named JJ and her white BMW was found parked at the north end of Pasadena Road.

Ground, water and air searches were conducted yesterday afternoon and evening, before being called off due to darkness. The search resumed this morning.

RCMP describe Cardno as a 31-year-old female, 4’11” tall, 108 lb. with brown hair and blonde highlights. She was seen wearing a blue or grey cap, bright red puffy jacket, sweatpants and black lace-up style army boots.

“At the time Cardno went missing, the water level of Mission Creek was high and fast-moving,” Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Const. Mike Della-Paolera said in the release.

“While searching the area, (Central Okanagan Search and Rescue) rescued over-turned kayakers at the mouth of Mission Creek. Given the local state of emergency, the Kelowna RCMP are asking citizens to stay away from Mission Creek.”

Investigators would like to speak with anyone in the Mission Greenway and Mission Creek area yesterday who may have seen Cardno and her dog.

Anyone with information is asked to call Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300. To remain completely anonymous, please call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leave a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net.
