Salmon Arm RCMP took two people into custody following a police chase on Feb. 13, 2018.

SALMON ARM - Two people face several charges as a result of a Salmon Arm RCMP patrol.
Salmon Arm RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Scott West said in a press release issued today, Feb. 14, a man and a woman are facing six charges including possession of stolen property, flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle following an incident on Feb. 13.
An officer on patrol checking a license plate near the intersection of the Trans Canada Highway and 30th Street Southwest revealed the vehicle to be stolen.
The officer followed the white Ford Aerostar van to where it turned down a dead end road, and positioned his cruiser to block the van’s escape, however, the van attempted to go around the cruiser and sideswiped it after hitting a snowbank.
A spike belt was then set up on the Trans Canada on Piers Point Road, resulting in two of the van’s tires deflating, causing the vehicle to slow to around 60 km/hr.
It was then followed by an unmarked police car.
The occupants were arrested a short time later when the vehicle went into a ditch on Tappen Beach Road.
The two are in both in their 40s, of no fixed address. They have since been held in police custody.
No one was injured in the incident.
