Salmon Arm break-in suspect arrested and will face charges

FILE.

A Salmon Arm man who tried to hide from RCMP after allegedly stealing some tools faces charges.

Salmon Arm RCMP attended to a business Feb. 25 at approximately 4:20 a.m., on 10 Ave SW after an alarm was triggered.

"While police were arriving a red Dodge truck was seen leaving," Staff Sgt. Scott West said, in a press release. "The driver of the vehicle attempted to hide the truck behind a nearby car wash."

The truck was located and the driver of the truck, a 40-year-old man from Salmon Arm, was arrested after the police officer observed stolen power tools still in the box in the truck along with a damaged safe in the back seat.

"Further investigation revealed that there were other stolen items in the truck," West said. "Some of the items located were connected back to another break and enter in Salmon Arm which occurred the previous night."

The man was held in custody and released later in the day to face break and enter, and possession of stolen property charges in mid-April.

Anyone with information useful to the investigation is asked to contact Salmon Arm RCMP at 250-832-6044.
