A third car was recently given away in a province-wide classic car raffle by Habitat for Humanity Kamloops.

The ’69 Barracuda convertible, like the previous two vehicles, was restored by Tappen’s Rust Valley Restorers who have a popular series on History Channel Canada and Netflix.

“We find the car and pay for the guys to fix it up,” said Rex Landis, procurement and donations coordinator with Habitat Kamloops. “We only do classic convertibles, muscle cars from the 50s to about ’72.”

The raffles are carried out through B.C. Lottery so anyone in B.C. can participate. There is hope another raffle will be put on sometime this year. Not only are they fun and the classic cars cool, the raffles, and the Rust Valley Restorers, have helped bring awareness to the global non-profit housing organization.

The winner of the $62,000 metallic blue vehicle was Brendon Moore from Coquitlam who picked up his treasure at the Habitat Restore in Salmon Arm in January. Landis said the young man was beyond happy about his win.

It is possible some footage of the restoration process of the car will be shown on season 4 of Rust Valley Restorers that starts on Feb. 24.

Habitat for Humanity Kamloops builds affordable housing to help families, seniors and veterans have a safe and decent place to call home.
