Kamloops Symphony Orchestra executive director Daniel Mills is nearing the finish line of his goal to run every street in the city.

Mills launched the "Running the Symphony" fundraising initiative on Aug. 14 and since then has nearly run every street in Kamloops. The campaign now needs just $643 to reach its $15,000 goal.

At an average between 50 and 60 kilometres per week since he started, Mills is set to finish his project with a marathon distance run, starting and ending at the Sagebrush Theatre at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, according to a KSO media release.

His final route will take him through the neighbourhood towards 13 Avenue, he will turn west towards downtown until 6 Avenue where he'll make his way back towards the theatre where the symphony normally performs.

The public is encouraged to cheer him on along his route as long as social distancing rules are followed.

“This project has been a big logistical and physical challenge for me, but it has been very fun getting to know Kamloops’ various neighbourhoods," Mills said in the release. "I am so grateful for the stunning geography Kamloops has to offer, and the tremendous backers who have helped us along this journey. With their support, the Kamloops Symphony has been able bolster our digital season and the programming and number of musicians involved in our ongoing productions."

Mills has covered 896 km over 83 runs since August, all posted on his Strava account.
