A travelling dinosaur exhibit put together by palaeontologists at the Royal BC Museum in Victoria is making a stop in the Okanagan.

The Okanagan Heritage Museum in Kelowna will host the Dinosaurs of BC exhibit this summer, according to a media release issued today, May 29.

“We are so excited to be hosting this exhibit,” the museum’s curatorial manager Amanda Snyder said in the release.

“We’ve been counting down the days until its arrival ever since we learned last year that we would be the first venue to host the travelling exhibition.”

The exhibit, which debuted last year at the Royal BC museum, features the dinosaurs that once roamed the province’s mountains, forests and remote river basins.

Museum goers will learn about tyrannosaurs and ankylosaurs, see preserved marine fossils and meet the BC-born and bred Buster, the reigning resident ferrisaurus.

Kids will have a chance to dig for fossils, play the dinosaur Myth Buster game and touch dino eggs.

The exhibit will be at the Kelowna museum from June 6 to Sept. 30. An opening celebration will be held on Saturday, June 15. Admission to the museum is by donation with a $5 per person donation recommended.
