Lenetta Parry, former executive director of the Central Okanagan Community Food Bank, is the latest president of the Rotary Club of Kelowna.

Parry assumed the position July 1 and will serve for one year, taking over the role from former president Stuart Dickson, according to a Rotary Club of Kelowna news release.

She is most recognized for her work with food banks for 14 years, according to the release. Last year, Parry stepped down as executive director for the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

"She has been named one of the Okanagan's Top Ten Most Influential Women, she was a Top 40 Under 40 recipient and most recently named a finalist for the Crowe MacKay LLP Change Maker Award in conjunction with the very first Kelowna Women in Business RISE Awards," reads the release.

Parry is the third woman to be president of the Kelowna club since it was chartered in 1928. She has been an active member since 2014.

"Currently women account for about 22 per cent of Rotary's global membership. Locally our club sits at approximately 20 per cent female membership. Increasing the number of women to join Rotary and take on leadership roles has been declared a top priority goal for all clubs worldwide," Parry said in the release.
