Tourists are set to flock into Kamloops from trains this summer, as the Rocky Mountaineer rolls into the city.

The season started yesterday, May 4, with two luxury train tours making stops in the Tournament Capital through to October.

Both make stops in Vancouver, with the First Passage to the West route running to and from Banff and the Journey Through the Clouds to and from Jasper.

The trips can start around $1,600 for a two-night trip, with several options up to eight-night journeys through the Rocky Mountains.

The company also offers two other trips that do not pass through Kamloops, including a journey on the northern rail line through Quesnel and another outside Canada, travelling from Moab, Utah to Denver, Colorado.

Tourists will continue to stay in Kamloops while taking the luxury rail cars through the Rockies, with passengers varying as the company can add or subtract cars from trains as needed.

More information on Rocky Mountaineer rail trips can be found on the company website here.
