PRINCE GEORGE - The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Prince George Cougars 8-2 on Saturday night in Prince George, sweeping a weekend double-header with the Cougars and improving to 3-0-0-0 on the season.
Rourke Chartier and Riley Stadel each scored twice while Tyson Baillie and Nick Merkley had a goal and two assists apiece and team captain Madison Bowey had three helpers in the win.
Carter Rigby and Kris Schmidli also scored for the Rockets, who defeated Prince George 7-2 on Friday night.
Jackson Whistle earned the win in net with the Rockets outshooting Prince George 31-30.
The Rockets were 5-for-9 on the power play and held Prince George to 0-for-5 with a perfect night on the penalty kill.
In his first game of the season, Rockets captain Bowey was named the game’s first star with his three assists.
Bowey flew in from Washington on Friday when he was released from the Capitals training camp.
With wins in its first three games of the season the Rockets return home to Kelowna to play the Vancouver Giants on Wednesday.
