Road rage on Trans-Canada near Salmon Arm may lead to criminal charges

SALMON ARM - Police say the driver of a car that forced a semi-truck to screech to a halt on Highway 1 near the Salmon River Bridge kicked the truck driver during the ensuing dispute.

The incident happened yesterday, Aug. 8. Salmon Arm police are considering laying criminal charges against the driver of the car.

The driver of the car allegedly slammed on his brakes in front of the semi, forcing both vehicles to stop in the middle of the driving lane, states an RCMP news release.

RCMP say both drivers engaged in a “verbal exchange” with the truck driver getting kicked.

The incident was captured by the truck driver’s dash camera and there were several witnesses. Police say the altercation may have been triggered by a “driving incident” just before the attack.

Police are advising drivers to call them if there are traffic incidents rather than trying to deal with it themselves.
