Road closure to disrupt East Kelowna residents for about a month

KELOWNA - One of East Kelowna’s major roads will be closed from Monday, July 15 to mid-August in order to install three new watermains.

McCulloch Road will only be open to local traffic between KLO Road (near McCulloch Station Pub) and Reekie Road, near where McCulloch turns 90 degrees to the south.

Drivers headed to places like Gallagher’s Canyon or Myra Canyon will have to detour along East Kelowna Road, to Reid, Pooley and Rose roads.

“Watermain installation in this section of McCulloch will provide a critical link to the northern part of Southeast Kelowna, as part of this phase of the Kelowna Integrated Water Project,” Project Manager Patrick Aylard said in a news release. “We appreciate the continuing patience and cooperation of area residents, businesses and visitors while work is underway.”

Two transit stops on McCulloch Road will be temporarily relocated and transit routes serving this area may experience delays due to construction.

Transit information is available on the B.C. Transit site or by calling 250-860-8121 and road information here.

This is part of an $86 million project to upgrade the Southeast Kelowna water system.
