MONTREAL - Mourners will gather today to pay their final respects to reputed Mafia boss Vito Rizzuto.

Rizzuto's funeral will be held at a Catholic church this afternoon in Montreal's Little Italy neighbourhood.

Rizzuto died of natural causes last Monday at age 67.

Experts say he was the leader of an organized crime ring that had influence across Canada and beyond.

After being released from a U.S. prison in 2012, Mafia watchers say Rizzuto managed to regain control over much of his turf.

Rizzuto's father and son were gunned down while he was in prison.
