Fans of RibFest Kelowna can uncross their fingers, and stop holding their breath.
The Rotary Club of Kelowna Sunrise announced in a media release today, April 29, given the current COVID-19 health emergency, it is postponing RibFest until August 2021.
“We deeply extend our thanks to everyone, especially our primary sponsor Interior Savings Credit Union, who has supported us from the beginning," RibFest chair Chris Murphy said in the release. "We know that the community has more needs during these challenging times and will continue to find ways to fundraise."
The Kelowna RibFest raffle will still be held online, and tickets will go on sale in June. Prizes include one years’ worth of groceries - $5,200 in value from Save On Foods, a $1,000 cash prize, a $1,500 barbecue and $500 store credit at clothing store Torino Ritz.
Last week, Kamloops Rotary cancelled its RibFest and Penticton Rotary postponed its event until September.
The Vernon Rotary Club is still deciding whether or not it will go ahead with the RibFest scheduled this summer.
