Slated for a site outside the ski resort town, the Revelstoke Adventure Park could be opening its doors in spring 2020.

The adventure park, featuring an artificial surfing lake, was approved by thethe Columbia Shuswap Regional District Oct. 17, passing a bylaw amendment which will allow the project to move forward.

The Revelstoke Adventure Park chief financial officer Jason Roe told the CBC he hoped the park would open in spring 2020.

According to a Columbia Shuswap Regional District media release, the park is planned to include recreational activities such as hiking, trail riding, bungee jumping, rock climbing, zip-lining, a ropes course and mountain biking. The development would also include a man-made lake where people could surf on artificial waves, as well as swimming and boating opportunities.

The adventure park would be built on 70 acres of private land and 635 acres of Crown land about 10 kilometres east of Revelstoke.

Plans for the adventure park also show hotels, cabins, an RV Park and campground, as well as staff accommodation.

The regional district says the developer will be required to improve the intersection of Greely Road and the Trans-Canada Highway before any development begins.

Revelstoke Adventure Park was not immediately available for comment.
