The B.C. Wildfire Service is rescinding an area restriction order that was put in place to prevent the public from accessing the Skaha Bluffs climbing area while the Christie Mountain wildfire remained a threat.

While the Skaha Bluffs are now accessible starting Sept. 4, mountain biking trails in the area including Rock Oven, Ward 1, Sauerkraut trails and the Smythe Forest Service Road remain closed, according to the wildfire service.

See the wildfire service's map here for an outline of the restriction still in place.

"The Christie Mountain wildfire remains active and dangerous in the remaining area restriction. Active wildfire, danger trees, ash pits, chainsaw operations, and aerial suppression remain as hazards," according to the service's Twitter page.
