Residents chased from Kelowna home by fire

FILE PHOTO

KELOWNA - Everyone got out safely when a fire broke out in a bedroom in a Kelowna home yesterday afternoon but they needed help from Emergency Social Services because they were not able to return to their home once the fire was out.

A Kelowna Fire Department news release stated that they received a 911 call reporting the fire at 2:29 p.m. yesterday, Feb. 7, but it did not say where the fire occurred.

Smoke was noticed in the upstairs of the dwelling and the fire was found in a closed bedroom. No word from the fire department on the cause of the fire.

The building and occupants are insured, the release stated.

The fire department sent 18 crew members and four trucks, a command vehicle and a safety unit to the fire.
