KAMLOOPS - Simon Fraser University’s Gerontology Research Centre is hoping to hear from Kamloops residents 55 or older who identify as LGBTQ+ who are willing to share their concerns about living and aging in non-metropolitan areas.

The research centre is doing a study focussing on an individuals’ understanding of advanced care planning and those who wish to learn more about advanced care planning, according to a Kamloops Pride tweet.

“The focus group will close with an introduction to an advanced planning guide that participants will be invited to take home,” a statement from the research centre says. Participants will be phoned or emailed six to eight weeks later to give feedback on the guide.

The focus groups will be roughly two hours in length and will include refreshments as well as a $10 gift card for participating. They will take place Thursday, Sept. 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A location is still to be determined.

To volunteer for the study, send an email to robertberinger@outlook.com.
