Rescue deployed in West Kelowna for a partially sunken boat

WEST KELOWNA - West Kelowna Fire Rescue responded to a marina incident, there were no reported injuries.

A boat became partially submerged today, Aug. 6, after launch, according to Chad Gartrell, Assistant Fire Chief. This incident occurred in the 1500 block of West Harbour Boulevard.

The Kelowna Fire Departments Marine Rescue MR2 and the Ministry of Environment were able to stabilize the incident. 

A small amount of fuel did contaminate the water, however, crews were able to contain it using booms and absorbent cloths specific to the fuel type.

According to Gartrell's release, the incident is considered accidental.
