Penticton RCMP say a man thought to be luring children by offering them candy in an incident reported yesterday was not intending harm.
RCMP were called to investigate following reports of the suspicious individual in the 2000 block of South Main Street yesterday afternoon, Aug. 12, around 1:30 p.m.
The man was reportedly speaking with young children and offering them candy, according to an RCMP media release.
Officers were able to identify the man today, Aug. 13.
"Although the actions of the man were suspicious and concerning, after a thorough investigation, officers are confident the man doesn’t pose any threat of harm to any child," Penticton RCMP spokesperson Const. James Grandy said in the release.
"He was encouraged to no longer offer children candy.”
