After more than two years in operation, Red Bird Brewing in Kelowna’s Brewery district wants to almost double its seating capacity.

“With the popularity of the craft beer industry along with Kelowna’s population growth and strong tourism we are now in a position where we need to expand our space,” Adam Semeniuk wrote in a letter submitted to the City of Kelowna.

It accompanies a liquor licence application that asks to increase seating from 40 to 76. There is room for 57 people indoors and 19 on an outdoor patio.

They are also taking over a 5,000 square foot building on next to its existing site at 1086 Richter St.

Their hours of operation will remain the same.

The application will be forwarded to a future city council meeting.
