RDOS seeks vendors for 3 popular regional district parks

A new program from the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen could offer some help to local food service operators hit by the pandemic.

The regional district has issued an expression of interest for vendors of food, recreation or sports equipment providers at three popular RDOS parks this summer.

The expression of interest is for mobile, self-contained units that can be removed from the park on a daily basis. The district says the service is not intended to be direct competition for local services but would provide a ‘unique opportunity’ to park users.

Communications officer Erick Thompson says Narmata’s Manitou and Wharf Park and Okanagan Falls’ Christie Memorial Park were selected for the initial expression of interest based on recent inquiries to the regional district.

He says no fee structure has yet been established within the RDOS, for seasonal charges for use of the park by vendors, so it has been suggested vendors make a donation towards park improvements rather than pay a rental fee this year.

Successful applicants would be asked to sign a one year contract expiring on Dec. 31. Submissions will be chosen based on quality, competence, service uniqueness, health and safety, locational suitability and references.

More information can be found in this RDOS document.
