RCMP seeks information about attempt to derail a train in Hope

RCMP are investigating an attempt to derail a train.

Someone put a vice clamp on a section of train tracks near the old Alexandria Bridge in Spuzzum, according to an RCMP press release today, Nov. 2.

The individual made their failed attempt on Oct. 22, at 3:18 a.m.

“It is very concerning when someone goes to this extreme to cause a catastrophic event that puts the train staff and the local community at risk of harm,” Sgt. Mike Sargent, Hope RCMP, said in the release.

Hope and Boston Bar RCMP are asking anyone with information to come forward, especially those who may have dash cam footage of the area around 2:30 a.m to 3:15 a.m. on Oct 22.

Anyone with information is asked to call Hope RCMP at 604-869-7750, or give an anonymous tip to crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
