WEST KELOWNA - Police are looking for witnesses to a hit-and-run involving a traffic flagger at a West Kelowna road construction site.

The incident in the 1100 block of Westside Road happened Monday, June 11, Kelowna media relations officer Cpl. Tania Carroll said in a press release.

The collision between the female flagger and commercial white Ford pickup truck happened when the flagger was stopping northbound traffic heading to Vernon.

Police allege the male driver of the lead vehicle in the line-up insisted on proceeding and threatened the flagger before moving ahead, knocking the stop sign out of her hand and injuring her wrist.

The truck driver is reported to have stopped briefly when the woman’s co-workers confronted him but he "remained confrontational" and drove away.

Police say they have followed up with the company that owned the vehicle trying to identify the driver.

They are particularly interested in a possible witness who stopped and told the victim he had dashcam footage of the alleged hit-and-run.

Witnesses are asked to contact West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880.
