Investigators are hoping to identify a jogger who passed by as a woman was sexually assaulted at a Kamloops park last week.
RCMP said a man approached a woman from behind in the city's West End in the evening on Sunday, July 9, and grabbed her in a "sexual nature."
“Since then, the investigation has been progressing well and police anticipate it will continue to advance toward the charge assessment phase in the near future,” Kamloops RCMP Supt. Jeff Pelley said in a news release issued today, July 17.
Investigators are looking for a woman who was jogging and passed by the crime scene at around 9 p.m. She was wearing fluorescent yellow shorts, a black sports top and a pink sweat band. She was heading toward Powers Road from the path
The assault was on a walking path between Strathcona Terrace and St. Paul Street. The victim and her assailant had a brief altercation and she was able to get free, RCMP said. The man left toward Strathcona Terrace.
“No similar assault reports have been received since last Sunday, and we continue to encourage anyone with information that may be related to please contact police as soon as possible," Supt. Pelley said.
