Kelowna RCMP reacted quickly to deescalate a rapidly evolving situation in a local business yesterday.
Just before 2 p.m. yesterday, Jan. 14, police were called to a business in the 1500 block of Banks Road in Kelowna on reports of an emotionally distraught man causing a disturbance and threatening to harm himself, according to an RCMP media release. RCMP do not identify the business.
Police responded quickly, in addition to seeking support of emergency services and the fire department.
The officers were able to apprehend a 27-year-old man who was experiencing a mental health crisis.
The man was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
RCMP said there were no injuries in the incident, and no further information will be forthcoming at this time.
