RCMP have identified the victim in a Penticton murder in hopes of advancing the investigation.

Tejinder Singh Randhawa, 61, of Penticton was stabbed in a busy area of the city's downtown last month. RCMP haven't made any arrests.

Randhawa was sitting in his car at around 5 p.m., Dec. 17, when someone approached the vehicle on foot and stabbed him multiple times. The unknown suspect then fled on foot.

"In our continued effort to advance this investigation, and with support from the victim's family, RCMP have released his name," reads a Penticton RCMP media release issued today, Jan. 3.

RCMP didn't update the investigation any further.

“As previously stated, our investigation is progressing, and we’re confident in reassuring the public they’re not at risk,” Penticton RCMP spokesperson Const. James Grandy said in the release.
