A body was recovered from Osoyoos Lake yesterday afternoon.

The public alerted police about a body in the lake around 2:30 p.m. yesterday, Aug. 22, according to an RCMP media release.

The body of a man was found 50 feet from the shore of Gyro Beach.

Police are working with the BC Coroners Service to identify the body, and to determine if it’s that of a 30-year-old man reported missing in Osoyoos on July 7.

Carlos Aranda Burgoin had been working and living at a local orchard. His father, Octavio Aranda, had travelled from Mexico City to search for his son.

RCMP are releasing no further information at this time.
