UPDATE: RCMP remain on scene of unfolding incident in Kelowna

A police incident continues to impact traffic in Kelowna today but RCMP are releasing few details about what is going on.

Officers are on the scene of an incident in the 1000 block of Cactus Road in the city's Rutland neighbourhood, according to an RCMP press release issued today, Dec. 29.

Traffic was blocked off between Jasmine Road and Monterey Road most of the day with the road closures expanded to include Springfield Road from Neptune Road to Hollywood Road South in the afternoon.

Springfield has since reopened, but road closures around 1000 block of Cactus Road continued.

The public is asked to stay away from the area in what RCMP are calling an "unfolding incident."

RCMP said more information will become available "at an appropriate time."
