A 37-year-old Kelowna man died in a single-vehicle collision with a light standard Sunday afternoon and RCMP are asking for witnesses to call them.

The crash happened at around 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, in the intersection of Richter Street and Doyle Avenue in Kelowna, according to an RCMP media release.

A white Chevrolet Malibu was travelling southbound on Richter Street when it crossed into oncoming traffic before hitting a light standard, RCMP said.

Two bystanders provided first aid, including chest compressions while the driver was still in the vehicle, according to a witness. Emergency crews arrived and used the jaws of life to get him out of the extensively damaged car.
