The hunt is on for a dognapper in Kelowna who brazenly stole a one-year-old puppy from her owner this past weekend.

Lulu was out for a walk with her owner on Royal Pine Drive at around 9:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, when a grey vehicle pulled up and a middle-aged, bald, Caucasian male got out and struck up a conversation, according to an RCMP media release.

The suspect then unhooked the leash, grabbed the pup, got back into the vehicle and took off.

The owner had bought the mixed breed dog a month earlier from someone who moved out of town, RCMP said.

Anyone with information on the dog’s whereabouts is asked to call Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and reference file number 2024-50979. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact the Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.crimestoppers.net.
