CHERRY CREEK — Kamloops RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in identifying suspects responsible for stealing solar panels from four electronic message boards in Cherry Creek.

On two separate occasions, on April 30 and again on May 9, solar panels were removed from electronic message boards that were located on the Trans-Canada Highway in the area of Greenstone Mountain Road, according to an RCMP media release.

"These message boards are integral to public and traffic safety where construction crews are replacing bridges from last year's flooding," Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in the release.

Police say on May 9, the theft occurred in broad daylight between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The police are asking the public if may have have seen the theft or might have dash cam footage that could identify a suspect or a vehicle, to contact the Kamloops Rural detachment at 250-314-1800.
