RCMP launch murder investigation after body discovered near Big White

RCMP are conducting a homicide investigation after a body was found in a creek near Big White Ski Resort on Saturday.

Kelowna RCMP received a call on Saturday, April 20 about a dead body in a creek next to the 201 Forest Service Road near Big White, according to an RCMP press release.

The Southeast District RCMP Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation.

“We can confirm it is being investigated as a homicide,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy said in the release. “The investigation is in its preliminary stages, with no identified risk to the public.”

RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are still working to identify the victim.

Mounties are asking anyone who may have been on 201 Forest Service Road in the past two weeks and saw anything suspicious to call the major crimes unit's tip line at 1-877-987-8477.
