OLIVER - For the second time within three weeks, Oliver RCMP are investigating a homicide.

Police were called to the 8000 block of a Highway 97 north just after 3 a.m. yesterday, Aug. 2, to find a man suffering from life-threatening injuries.

RCMP say efforts of first responders on scene were not enough to save the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Janelle Shoihet said in a press release police believe the incident to be targeted and isolated.

The police investigation is in its early stages and is being worked by members of the Southeast District Major Crime Unit, along with assistance from the Oliver RCMP and Penticton RCMP general investigative section.

Investigators are expected to be at the scene through the weekend.

Police did not reveal the name and age of the man killed, nor did they provide any details about how he died.

Oliver RCMP also reported the shooting death of a 58-year-old man on Wilson Mountain Road on July 17.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Oliver RCMP at 250-498-3422, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
