Oliver man shot and killed by someone he knew

PENTICTON - The RCMP's major crime unit has been called in to investigate a shooting death in Oliver that happened two days ago.

Oliver RCMP say in a media release officers were called to a report of a shooting at around 10:11 p.m. Tuesday, July 17. Police say a 58-year-old man was shot dead outside his residence on Wilson Mountain Road in Oliver.

Immediate medical assistance failed to help the victim who was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries, RCMP say.

"Early indications are that the parties involved are known to each other," Staff Sgt. Annie Linteau says in the release. A suspect is being sought by police.

RCMP have not identified the victim.
