KAMLOOPS - Rural RCMP officers are investigating suspected horse thefts after responding to calls of fence-cutting in the Cherry Creek area.
Staff Sgt. Doug Aird with the rural detachment says the latest incident was last weekend on April 11. Eight horses escaped through a cut fence at a property on Cactus Road around 9 p.m. Aird says horses were rounded up afterwards.
A previous incident occured on the same road on April 9 around 10:14 p.m. Aird says a home owner noticed someone removing chains on their gate, which allowed horses to escape. A Subaru vehicle was noticed in the area, but the owner was unable to take down a license plate number. Aird says the property owner also noticed a truck with a stock trailer driving slowly on nearby roads.
Police are seeking further information on the fence damage or attempted horse thefts. Anyone with knowledge of the events is asked to call the Kamloops Rural RCMP detachment at 250-314-1800. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 250-828-3215.
