Chase RCMP have one person in custody after an incident in a small Shuswap community that may have been a shooting.

RCMP say in a media release officers are on the scene of an incident in Scotch Creek today, June 25.

There is an ongoing investigation and one person has been arrested and remains in custody, police say.

Officers have been on the scene since before 12 p.m., according to an employee at the nearby Scotch Creek restaurant, The Hub.

Chase RCMP would not confirm the nature of the incident, but Salmon Arm Observer reports a shooting at a Scotch Creek business occurred.

Officers are still on the scene, RCMP said, but no further information will be released to the public at this time.

Police said more details may be released as they become available.
