The remains of a body discovered in the North Okanagan in April have been identified as a man in his 60s who went missing four years earlier.

RCMP say the remains have been identified as Terrence Strynadka, 63, of Armstrong, who was reported missing Feb. 15, 2016. He was last seen near Swan Lake.

The body was discovered April 5 in Spallumcheen and Strynadka's next of kin have since been notified, according to an RCMP media release.

"Police do not believe that criminality was involved in (the) death of Terrence Strynadka," RCMP Corp. Tania Finn said in the release. "The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP extends our condolences to the family of Terrance."

The release says the RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service will not be releasing any further information.
