RCMP confirm man drowned swimming in Columbia Valley lake

The 26-year-old man who went missing while swimming in a Columbia Valley lake has been deceased.

Emergency crews were called to Windermere Lake in Invermere at approximately 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, to a report of man who had presumably drowned, according to an RCMP media release.

The man was swimming with friends when he went into distress, went under the water and didn’t resurface, police said.

RCMP said no further information will be released out of respect for the victim’s family.
