RCMP chase down a break and enter suspect through Spallumcheen

SPALLUMCHEEN - A long, winding foot chase resulted in the apprehension of a theft suspect in Spallumcheen on Monday.

RCMP say in a media release an officer arrived at a Westside Road home around 11 a.m. on Dec. 10 on a report of a possible break and enter.

The officer met a man who claimed he was meeting a friend at the property, police say, and the man claimed he owned a nearby vehicle, but it turned out to be stolen.

The man bolted and led officers on a chase through the Dessert Cove community, the Spallumcheen Golf Course and another residential neighbourhood. They eventually found him hiding in the bushes on Golfview Place and took him into custody.

Cameron Fox, 33, of Kelowna has been charged with break and enter with intent, escape lawful custody and possession of stolen property.

Fox was scheduled to appear before the court today, Dec. 12, 2018.
