MERRITT — Police in Merritt are asking for the public’s help in locating a cowboy who was reported missing last month.
Merritt RCMP were informed of Ben Tyner’s disappearance after his riderless horse was discovered on a logging road off of Highway 97C near Winnie Flats, according to an RCMP media release.
Despite several massive searches to locate Tyner through search and rescue missions, air services, police dog services, and the cowboy has yet to be found.
Tyner is the ranch manager at Nicola Ranch in Merritt. His family who is originally from Wyoming made their way to Merritt earlier this month to make a public plea for information on the 32-year-old man.
Police are now asking for anyone with dash cam or video footage from Jan. 26 or Jan. 27 to report it to police.
“The investigation continues to be a priority for the Merritt RCMP and the Southeast District Major Crime Unit,” Staff Sgt. Lorne Wood said in the release.
Anyone who was in Merritt on the weekend of Jan. 26 and has dash cam or other video footage is asked to contact the Southeast District Major Crime Unit tip line at 1-877-987-8477.
