LAKE COUNTRY - The RCMP is appealing for witnesses following a vehicle collision that left two women hospitalized.

Lake Country RCMP says in a press release the crash, which took place at the intersection of Highway 97 and Oceola Road at around 5:30 p.m. Aug. 2, involved a brown Buick Century sedan and red Dodge pickup truck. The force of the crash left the pickup truck on its side.

The driver of the Buick sedan, an 18-year-old Vernon woman was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries and the Dodge pickup truck driver, a 58-year-old woman also from Vernon, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Her dog that was in the truck at the time was seen by a vet and appeared uninjured.

RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in the release that no independent witnesses were on scene, but police believe the driver of the Dodge pickup truck was northbound on the highway when it collided with the Buick sedan travelling east through the intersection on Oceola Road.

Lake Country RCMP urges anyone with information to call police at 250-766-2288.
