Rash of thefts meant busy weekend for North Okanagan cops and criminals

VERNON - The North Okanagan RCMP are investigating a recent string of thefts and brazen break-ins.

Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says in a media release the thefts include a bike and stroller taken from a travel trailer, business break-ins and a residential break and enter.

Noseworthy says most of the cases are still under investigation and is asking anyone with information to contact the RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

TWO-BUISNESS BREAK AND ENTERS IN VERNON

Police responded to an alarm around 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016. at Nicolas & Marie's Pizza on 27 Street in Vernon to find money stolen and a second business also broken into.

An undisclosed amount of money was stolen from the pizza shop. 

"While responding to this call, police discovered a neighbouring business, Universal Hair Studios, had been broken into as well," Noseworthy says in the release.

Thieves smashed the front window and stole an undisclosed amount of money from the salon as well.

VERNON RESIDENTIAL BREAK AND ENTER

Police have arrested a man responsible for smashing a window, entering a Vernon home and stealing a significant amount of electronic and camera equipment last week.

The break and enter was carried out on a home located in the 7300 block of Longacre Drive on Nov. 9, 2016.

Police are recommending a charge of break and enter against the 37-year-old Vernon man.

Police are still investigating this matter and ask anyone with information to call the Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. File number 2016-26263.

THEFT FROM VERNON TRAVEL TRAILER

Someone gained entry to a travel trailer parked in the 6700 block of Dixon Dam Road in Vernon. The thief stole a Chariot Cougar II stroller and a CCM North Ridge mountain bike.

The stroller is described as purple and red with two castor tires in the rear, a missing front tire, a handbar and a rain cover.

The bike is purple and orange and described as a 2000 model.

These thefts happened between Oct. 29 and Nov. 8, 2016.

ENDERBY BUSINESS BREAK AND ENTER

A thief lifted computer equipment from an Enderby tackle store in the early hours of Remembrance Day.

An unknown suspect pried the open the doors of Grants Tackle Box on George Street at approximately 3:40 a.m. on Nov. 11.

A computer tower and a Toshiba laptop computer were taken.

Police are still investigating and anyone with information is asked to call the Enderby RCMP at 250-838-6818 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 with file #2016-26364.

ENDERBY TRAILER THEFT

Over the weekend, a grey 7x16 enclosed U-Built trailer was stolen from Bass Avenue in Enderby.

The trailer was reported stolen on Nov. 12, 2016. It had Ontario licence plate N5881T.

"There were numerous different tools and a generator inside the trailer," Noseworthy says. 

Police are still investigating this crime and anyone with information is asked to call the Enderby RCMP at 250-838-6818 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 with file # 2016-26435.
