Ranford and Regehr win championships

Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers have two alumni celebrating championships as Robyn Regehr (1996-1999) won the Stanley Cup with the Los Angeles Kings and Brendan Ranford (2008-2013) won the Calder Cup with the Texas Stars of the AHL.

Regehr won his first Stanley Cup in his 14 NHL season. The defenseman played in 79 games with the Kings this season and also reached a milestone playing in his 1000 career NHL game. The Rosthern, Sask. native suited up for eight playoff games after being injured in the second round.

Regehr spent three seasons with the Kamloops Blazers, playing 183 games. He helped lead the Blazers to the 1999 WHL finals where they lost to the Calgary Hitmen.

Ranford is the Blazers franchise leader in career games played at 348. He recorded 357 points in his career with the Blazers which is sixth all-time.

The dynamic forward earned an AHL contract with the Texas Stars. The Edmonton native had a breakout second half of the season finishing with 33 points in 65 games.

Ranford was integral in the Stars’ playoff run with eight goals and 16 points in 21 playoff games, which included a goal and six points in five Calder Cup Final games.
Ranford assisted on three of the four game winning goals in the finals.
