KAMLOOPS – Over 350 people showed up in downtown Kamloops for a protest against the proposed Ajax mine in Kamloops.

The opponents definitely outnumbered the supporters. Only about 20 of the mine's supporters made it out for the rally.

The peaceful rally in front of the offices of KGHM blocked off Seymour and impacted traffic flow in the area.

The protesters marched through downtown, doing a loop on Seymour Street and Victoria Street while chanting, drumming and singing.

Both the RCMP and city bylaws officers were on the scene providing security, although there were no conflicts between those for and against the mine other than the odd heckle directed at either group.

A smaller protest was held at Thompson Rivers University on Sept. 13, 2013.
