Officers remain on the scene of two connected police incidents, one in Kelowna and the other in West Kelowna after a warning earlier today warning the public to stay away from the Kelowna incident.

Police had said earlier this afternoon that an unfolding incident was underway at a residence in the 700 block of Harvey Avenue near downtown Kelowna, which prompted a hold and secure at nearby Central Secondary School, which has since been lifted, according to an RCMP news release.

Kelowna RCMP have not provided any details about what was involved in the Kelowna incident, but say it started at around 1 p.m.

There's also a related investigation somewhere in West Kelowna and police had expected traffic delays due to both investigations. Exactly where in West Kelowna the related investigation is taking place has not been specified.

"It's way too early and there's a lot going on right now, so we're not going to make any comments," RCMP spokesperson Const. Mike Della-Paolera said. "At the end of the day, we're not making any comment until we know what's going on."

RCMP said in a statement issued at around 3 p.m. that the two incidents are no longer considered active and residents can "safely return to their normal activities." Officers remain on both crime scenes as the investigation continues.

No further information will be released to the public, RCMP said.
