If you’re tuned into the province’s daily Facebook videos featuring provincial health officer Bonnie Henry and Minister of Health Adrian Dix, you may be familiar with another regular face.
Fan clubs have sprung up on social media, showering Henry with praise and support, and now her sign language interpreter has gained a following of his own.
The Nigel Howard ASL Interpreter Fan Club was created March 17 and features fan favourite facial expressions of the interpreter, who can be seen on the daily videos.
“Thank you Nigel for creating intrigue during these difficult and scary times during the COVID-19 pandemic. When I was watching the B.C. health news release yesterday I was wondering who this great ASL interpreter guy was! I've never seen such a fascinating interpreter. You are a great representative of interpreters and you are very visual. My friends and I have sent pictures to each other wondering what this or that sign meant. Keep doing you! We will keep watching and paying more attention to you than the other people at the microphone,” reads a recent post on the page.
The Facebook page has more than 2,000 likes.
