Princeton man rams police car, gets stuck on tree stump, gets arrested

A 35-year-old Princeton man has been charged after he allegedly rammed into a police car before getting stuck on a tree stump during a failed bid to get away.

According to a Keremeos RCMP media release, an officer noticed a suspicious vehicle known to police yesterday, March 7, in the early evening.

The officers activated their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but it fled at high speed.

Police didn't follow the suspicious vehicle but shortly afterwards spotted it on a dead-end road.

The police car put its lights and sirens on again, but the suspicious vehicle did a U-turn and drove back towards the cop car and crashed into it.

Undeterred, the suspect continued in his bid to get away and reversed onto a homeowner’s lawn.

However, the vehicle then got stuck on a tree stump and the driver and passenger were promptly arrested.

"This highlights the dangerous job our officers do every day to keep our communities safe," Keremeos RCMP Cpl. Chad Parsons said in the release. "The member involved in this occurrence acted according to his training, which took a career criminal safely into custody."

Princeton resident Blake Dunstall, 39, has now been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, resisting arrest, failing to comply with a probation order, driving while suspended, and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The release doesn't say whether the 35-year-old female passenger is also facing charges.
