VERNON - The rainbow flag goes up today as it does with all intake cadet days at the Vernon Cadet Training Centre.

The flag is the universal symbol of LGBTQ-Plus pride. It is meant to show cadets that the Vernon CTC promotes “principles of inclusiveness, equality and dignity” it writes on a Facebook post.

Amar Tiwana is this summer’s Unit Cadet Conflict Management Advisor. His job is to oversee the Youth Health and Wellness team, which includes a padre and a youth advisor.

Throughout the summer the team assists CTC staff in implementing programs and initiatives aimed at providing emotional wellness support to cadets. The team will advise staff, teach classes, and provide one on one support to cadets in need.
