Head to the North Okanagan or Costco in Kamloops quickly if you want to buy the cheapest gas around.

Gasbuddy.com shows regular gas selling for $1.41.9 a litre in Enderby and Sicamous while most other stations in the Kamloops and Okanagan regions are at $1.55.9. The exception is Costco in Kamloops at $1.36.9.

This comes despite the fact that the wholesale price of gasoline in Kamloops dropped last week and Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, said prices at the pump should drop as well.

At that time (July 8) gas in the region was selling for $1.40.9 to $1.43.9 but quickly jumped to $1.55.9 in Kelowna. That has now been followed by most other areas of the region.

Since then the wholesale price in Kamloops where, McTeague said, all the stations in the region get their gasoline, has gone up one cent a litre. But that still means they’re making a profit of about 19 cents on every litre they sell.

That wholesale price in Kamloops was $0.96.5 per litre today, July 13. In Prince George, the wholesale price was two cents per litre lower but gas was selling at the pumps for 12 cents less ($1.43.9 per litre).

The most expensive gas in B.C. is in the Lower Mainland where the wholesale price is $1.05.2 and the retail price is $1.65.9. There’s an extra 18.5 cents/litre transit tax in the Lower Mainland.

The cheapest gasoline in B.C. listed on Gasbuddy.com is Farmington at $1.27.9. That’s a tiny community between Dawson Creek and Fort St. John. That’s the same price it’s selling for at Edmonton stations.
